Travel is not just about landscapes and wildlife—it’s also about the people we meet and the cities that shape their lives. From vibrant street markets to towering architectural marvels, this section captures the essence of urban living and the human spirit. Through my lens, I aim to tell the stories of the people I’ve encountered on my travels, as well as the structures and spaces that define their world. These images celebrate the diversity of cultures, the beauty of human connection, and the creativity that shapes our built environments.
Fact: As cities expand, they are driving deforestation, habitat destruction, and biodiversity loss at an alarming rate. Urban areas now cover more than 3% of the Earth's land. Cities produce 70% of global CO₂ emissions, contributing to climate change, while plastic, noise, and light pollution disrupt ecosystems.
Cities projected to house 68% of the world’s population by 2050, smarter urban planning and conservation efforts are critical to minimising their environmental impact and ensuring wildlife can coexist in an urbanised world.

Massive Buddha statue in Myanmar. We visited during that brief period when it was seen to be optimistically moving to a free democratic country. Sadly, that was misplaced.

Ethiopia, the Simen Mountains are marked by Mount Ras Dejen,4,620 metres]. Simply stunning.
Jeremy in thought, one of my favourite pictures of him. Drakensberg (Dragon's Mountain) . South Africa. A world UNESCO site. The Drakensberg rises to more than 13,475 metres and extends roughly northeast to southwest for 1,125 km's parallel to the southeastern coast of South Africa. Stunning.
Namibia, Camp Kipwe, Damaraland. Ingeniously built among the giant boulders of a granite kopje, this cluster of igloo-shaped bungalows is close to the petroglyphs carved thousands of years ago by the Khoikhoi people at Twyfelfontein, Namibia’s first World Heritage site.

Phinda, South Africa. As close as I came to driving on a game drive.
